Shillong (Meghalaya), April 30: Meghalaya has partnered with US-based CK-12 Foundation to bring AI-powered digital learning for Science and Mathematics to government and government-aided schools.
The MoU was signed through MPOWER under the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency to make key subjects more accessible and engaging. CK-12’s platform will offer curriculum-aligned content, interactive exercises, and personalised tools for students and teachers.
Education Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Mantri said the move supports the state’s new policy making Science and Math compulsory. “We aim to make these subjects more accessible, practical and engaging for learners,” he said.
Director of School Education Banteilang Kharshandi said teacher training will be key to using the tools effectively in classrooms.
Under the deal, MPOWER will handle coordination and teacher training while CK-12 provides its AI platform and technical support. CK-12 Co-founder Miral Shah said AI can personalise teaching and learning at scale to prepare students for the future.
The signing included officials from MPOWER, Education Department, CK-12, and principals from four Shillong schools.
