New Delhi, July 22: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to give urgent hearing to a CJP plea seeking action over alleged police brutality during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march.
A bench led by CJI Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, told the petitioner’s counsel not to “waste” the court’s time. “Please don’t waste our time and don’t waste yours. Your time is more valuable than ours,” CJI Kant said.
The plea sought intervention into Delhi Police action during the march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament, where barricades and restrictions were imposed. The CJP counsel argued students were protesting NEET-UG irregularities and seeking NTA reforms. The bench declined to even view videos of the alleged police action, with CJI Kant remarking, “We are not interested in videos. We don’t have time to watch.”
