Umroi(Meghalaya), May 25: Exercise PRAGATI 2026 has hit full stride in Meghalaya, with 400+ troops from 13 nations sharpening combat skills together in Umroi’s jungles and hills.
Launched May 20, the first edition pairs soldiers into mixed teams for drills in semi-mountainous terrain. The goal: real-time interoperability built on trust, not just tactics.
Recent days saw troops run rock craft, ambush and counter-ambush drills, slithering ops, jungle lane shooting, and bus intervention exercises. Sniper and AK-203 rifle contests let units compare weapon handling and marksmanship.
Off the field, basketball, volleyball, and tug-of-war matches are bonding the ranks. Officials say those games matter as much as the drills for long-term military-to-military ties.
Defense authorities call PRAGATI 2026 a step toward collective readiness on shared security challenges and stronger defense diplomacy in the region. The exercise runs on a platform of equality, friendship, and mutual respect.
