New Delhi, July 22 : Tension in the capital showed no sign of easing as CJP protestors intensified demands for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the NEET-UG controversy.
The protest momentum is spreading across state capitals, with large turnouts reported in Guwahati, Imphal, Gangtok, Shillong, Itanagar and Kohima as more youth joined the call for accountability.
Inside Parliament, both Houses were adjourned amid uproar over the NEET-UG paper leak issue. Lok Sabha Speaker suspended TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee for alleged unparliamentary remarks, while Congress MPs wore black to protest Delhi Police action against party leaders on Tuesday.
In a related development, Union ministers JP Nadda and Dr Jitendra Singh met climate activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, urging him to end his hunger strike. Later, an Opposition delegation also met him, assuring that the NEET issue would be raised in Parliament, where the government has indicated willingness to discuss it.
