New Delhi Aug 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and apprised him of the ongoing flood situation in the state and the government’s plans for rehabilitation.
During the meeting in the morning, Dr. Sarma said they discussed preparedness for the next phase of floods, along with rehabilitation of affected areas and restoration of livelihoods.
“Today in New Delhi, I had the privilege of calling upon Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji to seek his blessings and guidance,” the Chief Minister posted on X.
Sarma said the Prime Minister has been in constant touch with the Assam government through the crisis and has assured all possible assistance from the Centre.
The meeting comes as flood waters continue to impact several districts, with the state government focusing on relief distribution, damage assessment, and long-term measures to support displaced families.
