New Delhi, Mar 21: In a significant move to support the education of Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, the central government has released the final installment of scholarships worth ₹85.0779 crore for the academic session 2023-2024.
A total of 76,755 students had applied for the scholarship under the ‘Umbrella Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for ST Students’. The scholarship has been disbursed in three installments, with the government releasing a total of ₹194.0379 crore to support the education of ST students.
The disbursement of the scholarship has been carried out in a phased manner, with the first installment of ₹42.32 crore being released on June 24, 2024, benefiting 17,364 students. This was followed by the second installment of ₹66.67 crore, released on November 20, 2024, which supported 32,064 students.
In the final phase, the government has released ₹85.0779 crore, benefiting 27,327 students.
