New Delhi, Oct 9: Amid a growing demand for resignation of Gyanesh Kumar as Chief Election Commissioner, a delegation of INDIA Bloc MPs called on President Draupadi Murmu and formally listed a charter of 4 point demands.
Comprising Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, CPI(M) General Secretary MA Baby, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, the delegation urged for the Presidential to intervention saying that the demands are serious.
Coming out of the meeting, the delegations said that immediate removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is the first demand they have raised before the President.
Other demands include Immediate cancellation of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise across states, restoration of ballot papers in the future elections.
Talking to the reporters waiting outside, Rahul Gandhi said “I said to President Murmu that proof of ‘election chori’ is known to the country, state after state has been stolen.” Gandhi said that the President had not denied the Opposition’s claims and had sought evidence to support its allegations.
