Shillong (Meghalaya), Mar 23: In a shocking and tragic incident, a resident of Laban locality, Pritish Deb, took his own life by jumping from the main Umiam Dam bridge.
According to eyewitnesses, Deb left his bag on the bridge, which contained documents identifying him. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many taking to social media to express their condolences and try to reach out to Deb’s family.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently trying to determine the circumstances that led to Deb’s tragic decision.
Deb was a local businessman and owned a shop located at Laban Last Bus stop.
Police are trying to gather more details about the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“If anyone has any information about Pritish Deb or the circumstances surrounding his death, please contact the police immediately,” said a police spokesperson.
In an update on the rescue efforts, SP, Ri Bhoi, Vivekananda Singh, informed that the operation to retrieve the body will resume tomorrow morning.
“We can say anything only after the body is retrieved. Rescue operation will start tomorrow morning again “. Singh said.
