Shillong (Meghalaya), June 2: Pasteur Beat House’s Special Party arrested two men wanted in multiple motorcycle thefts in Shillong and seized tools and cash from their possession in Polo.
The accused were identified as Cornelius Mukhim alias Bryan, 20, of Mawlai Mawroh, and Meshanki Lamare, 21, of Sapai, Jowai. Police said they were allegedly involved in stealing bikes in Shillong for transport towards the Bangladesh border.
Recovered items included Taparia Torx and Allen key sets, wire-stripping pliers, a screwdriver, two Nike sling bags, ₹19,500 in cash and a metal lighter. The duo will be produced before court tomorrow.
In a separate operation, Sadar Police Station and the Women Police Station traced four children from Jorhat who had gone missing on May 31. The two boys and two girls, aged 16 to 17, were found at J.K. International Hotel in Police Bazar along with a 26-year-old man.
Enquiry showed the girls were friends and the others cousins, and they had come for sightseeing without informing their parents. A police team from Jorhat, accompanied by family members, took custody of the minors at Sadar PS yesterday.
