Tura (Meghalaya), June 19: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma laid the foundation stone for the Additional Secretariat Complex in Tura’s Dakopgre, marking a significant milestone for the people of Garo Hills. The ₹156 crore project aims to provide easier access to government services for residents of the five districts in Garo Hills, who previously faced challenges in availing these services.
The complex is expected to be completed by January 2027 and will deliver most government services from Tura, benefiting the people of Garo Hills. Sangma termed the project “historic” for the state and particularly Garo Hills, saying it is a testament to the fulfillment of the people’s aspirations.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the additional secretariat would serve as a crucial infrastructure for the region, enabling residents to access various government services without having to travel long distances. This development is seen as a significant step towards improving governance and administration in Garo Hills.
