Shillong, July 24: The State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026 semi-finals wrapped up today at SSA Stadium and MFA Turf, Polo, with six schools advancing to the finals across the Under-15 Boys, Under-17 Boys and Under-17 Girls categories.
In the Under-15 Boys, North Liberty Hr. Sec. School from West Jaintia Hills secured a 2-0 win over Little Star Hr. Sec. School of Eastern West Khasi Hills. Malcolm Nongbsap and Man-i-khan Kyndiah scored the goals. The other semi-final between Umpohliew Jingtip Hr. Sec. School, East Khasi Hills, and Step by Step Sec. School, East Jaintia Hills, ended 0-0 and was decided on penalties, with Umpohliew Jingtip winning 3-2.
The Under-17 Boys saw two one-sided contests. Wapung Hr. Sec. School, East Jaintia Hills, defeated Dapboklang Giri Memorial Sec. School, West Khasi Hills, 5-0. Kamwamutmi Dkhar and Jeffarson Phawa both scored twice, with Donbor Dkhar adding another. O.M. Roy Memorial Hr. Sec. School, East Khasi Hills, recorded a 7-0 victory over Bajengdoba Hr. Sec. School, North Garo Hills. Lamshai Jana scored a hat-trick, Ebenezer Sun netted a brace, and Jonathan Kharbani and Deiwamut Syiem also found the net.
In the Under-17 Girls, North Liberty Hr. Sec. School, West Jaintia Hills, continued their dominant run with a 5-0 win over Lurmangkara Sec. School, West Khasi Hills. Goals came from Receive Ksoo, Saphika Pyrtuh, Baiarbha Nongrum, Peacefully Pohphlet and Elizabeth Thanglai. Little Star Hr. Sec. School, Eastern West Khasi Hills, beat Nongjri Presbyterian Sec. School, Ri-Bhoi, 2-0 through strikes from Genefa Myrthong and Bansara Rynsiang.
The tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, will conclude on July 25 with the finals. North Liberty Hr. Sec. School will face Umpohliew Jingtip Hr. Sec. School in the Under-15 Boys final. Wapung Hr. Sec. School takes on O.M. Roy Memorial Hr. Sec. School in the Under-17 Boys title match. The Under-17 Girls final will see North Liberty Hr. Sec. School play Little Star Hr. Sec. School.
