Shillong (Meghalaya), June 21: The Sessions court here has remanded Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raj Kushwaha, the prime accused in the murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, to 13-day judicial custody.
Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of Raja Raghuvanshi, and her alleged boyfriend Raj Kushwaha are accused of plotting the murder of Raja during their honeymoon in Sohra. The crime was allegedly committed on May 23.
The police investigation suggests that Sonam and Raj Kushwaha conspired to kill Raja, with Raj Kushwaha hiring three hitmen – Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Anand Kurmi – to carry out the murder.
The court had earlier granted eight days’ police custody to the five accused, which was later extended by two more days for Sonam and Raj Kushwaha.
Meanwhile, the three hitmen were sent to 14-day judicial custody. During their police custody, the accused were interrogated, and medical tests were conducted at the Shillong Civil Hospital.
