Kolkata, June 10: Trinamool Congress lost another Rajya Sabha MP on Wednesday as Sushmita Dev quit the party and resigned her Upper House seat.
Dev, from Assam’s Barak Valley, met Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in New Delhi after submitting her resignation, signaling a likely move to the BJP after its assembly poll sweep.
It is the second TMC Rajya Sabha exit in a week. Dev is the daughter of former Union minister Santosh Mohan Dev, who served under Rajiv Gandhi, P.V. Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh. TMC veteran Sukhendu Sekhar Roy had resigned as MP two days earlier.
