Imphal (Manipur), June 10: Manipur was hit by fresh tension after police recovered the bodies of six Naga civilians from Kharam Vaiphei forest in Kangpokpi district, a month after their abduction from Leilon Vaiphei on May.13.
The victims were found during a combing operation and taken to RIMS, Imphal, for post-mortem. Police said investigations are ongoing.
The discovery came a day after 14 Kuki villagers were released from nearly four weeks in captivity. The hostages were handed over to police in Senapati district on Tuesday by the United Naga Council and the Naga People’s Organisation. Authorities, community leaders and civil society groups had secured the release of around 30 people from both communities on 14 and 15 May
