Shillong ( Meghalaya), Mar 13 : Meghalaya is poised to play a significant role in India’s agri-tech revolution, with the Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announcing plans to make the Northeast region, including Meghalaya, a hub for agricultural innovation.
The Minister laid the foundation stone for the permanent campus of the Northeast Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) here, which will lead the agri-tech revolution in the region.
NECTAR has already identified several locations in Meghalaya, including Sohra, Mawsmai, and Lalingtop, for cultivation under a special project. The project aims to promote agricultural development in the Northeast region, utilizing uncultivated land and enhancing agricultural potential without disrupting existing crops.
With the government’s focus on boosting innovation and technology-driven growth in the Northeast, Meghalaya is set to benefit from the region’s transformation into a hub for agri-tech innovation.
