Dear Editor,
After reading the article “Good Friday and the Soul of India” by Bijoy A. Sangma, I felt that it touched the conscience of Indians, including those who may have lost touch with their values.
The commemoration of Good Friday serves as a reminder of the story of Jesus, a 33-year-old carpenter from Nazareth who became a popular moral teacher. He was falsely accused by Jewish religious leaders, the Pharisees and Sadducees, for not conforming to their teachings.
Brought before Roman Governor Pontius Pilatus, Jesus faced public trial based on these false accusations. Influenced by the Jewish leaders, the mob pressured the Governor, shouting slogans that ultimately led to Jesus’ fate. This pivotal event highlight’s themes of injustice, mob mentality, and the courage of a man standing by his beliefs.
Sincerely,
