Shillong , June 3: In a significant breakthrough in the murder case of Indore tourist Raja Raghuvanshi, the Meghalaya police have recovered the machete believed to be the murder weapon. According to East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem, the investigation is now focused on tracing the perpetrators of the crime.
The police have also recovered Raja’s mobile phone, and the postmortem has been conducted to determine the cause of death. Raja’s wife, Sonam, remains missing, and the search operation continues.
The family members of the couple, who are in Shillong, have been vocal about their suspicions since the beginning, claiming that the couple was murdered. They have specifically pointed fingers at the guide and the scooter supplier, alleging that they could be behind the murder.
Raja’s brother, after the postmortem, alleged that valuable items including a gold ring, bracelet, and wallet were missing from the body. The family is now demanding a CBI inquiry into the case, citing concerns over the investigation’s impartiality.
As the search for Sonam’s body continues, the police are working tirelessly to crack the case and bring the perpetrators to justice. When asked about a potential CBI investigation, SP Vivek Syiem said the police investigation is currently in progress.
