Shillong (Meghalaya), May 10 : The celebration of Eid ul-fitr among the Muslim community after a month-long Ramadan or fasting to express gratitude to the Almighty Allah will be done in a somber manner devoid of festivity such as shaking hands and hugging due to sudden surge of Covid-19 cases in the state.
“Taking of vaccination by each and everyone” is the message that emerged from Shillong Muslim Union.
As the State Government is trying its best to get people vaccinated, religious and community leaders of the state have come forward in the fight against COVID.
This year, EID celebration will be different from the previous years, as prayers will be performed at home to ensure safety, the Shillong Muslim Union said, adding that the devotees will not be allowed to go to Mosque on the occasion.
The Eid which comes at the end of the 30-day long of Ramzan month will be celebrated under strict adhering of COVID-19 protocols.
