Guwahati ( Assam), May 11 : The state today reported the highest single -day fatality of 85 Covid 19 patients .
A total of 6,258 fresh Covid – 19 cases were detected in the state out which 1585 cases were reported from Guwahati and its suburbs .
The overall positivity percentage (6258 cases out of 68572 test done) stands at 9.13 % with a recovery rate of 86.06%.
Seeing the worsening Covid -19 situation in the state , Chief Minister , Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma convened a meeting with Ministers & senior officers today to assess the situation in the state and need to intensify containment measures.
In wake of escalating numbers, the CM directed officers to ensure strict enforcement of restrictions to bring down positivity rate.
An official order is expected on Tuesday morning .
