Imphal (Manipur), April 13 : The first COVID-19 patient from the state, Miss Vimi Ningombam has been discharged from Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) hospital on Sunday .
The 23 year old girl was tested positive of Novel Coronavirus on March 24 last after she had returned from UK to Manipur.
Director of JNIMS, Prof. Th. Bhimo said, a meeting of doctors of JNIMS and Manipur State Surveillance team was held on Sunday morning and discussed the health conditions of the patient.
As the patient had not shown any symptoms of COVID-19 for last 11 days and was found negative of virus three times and was fit , it was decided to discharge the patient.
According to information available , the girl is physically fit now and is having meals regularly. She will be now on compulsory home quarantine for 14 days and abide the rules of quarantine.
A team of three doctors will monitor her health conditions every day and a test for COVID-19 will be done after completion of home quarantine.
Manipur so far had two positive cases of Novel Coronvirus. The other patient, who had attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin of Delhi is undergoing treatment at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.
Meanwhile,Manipur government announced a cash reward of Rs 35 lakh to JNIMS medical team who successfully treated the first Northeast COVID-19 from the state.
Chief minister N Biren Singh appreciated the team of JNIMS hospital who treated the first COVID-19 patient of the state successfully.
The 23-year-old first COVID-19 was declared recovered from the disease on April 6 after her latest test result turned out negative.
The chief minister acknowledged the talents and potential of the doctors, nurses and paramedical staffs of the state while appreciating the medical team that treated the first COVID-19 patient successfully.
The CM expressed gratitude to the team for their tireless work and announced that the government would give a cash reward of Rs 35 lakh to the team.
In a video clipping released to the local media houses , the CM thanked Dr Uthan, Dr Manojkumar who volunteered and led the team in treating the patient at JNIMS hospital.
The CM also informed that his government was actively considering providing cash incentives or awards to those working at the frontline, fighting against the spread of the disease in the state.
