Shillong, Nov 5: Meghalaya has a new watchdog for transparency.
Former IAS officer Ripnar Lyngdoh was sworn in on Thursday as the State Chief Information Commissioner.
Governor Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar administered the oath at Lok Bhavan, here.
Lyngdoh will serve for two years, or till she turns 65 — whichever comes first.
The post had been lying vacant since August, following the demise of former Chief Information Commissioner Rebecca V. Suchiang.
Chief Secretary Dr Shakil P. Ahammed, Agriculture Secretary Isawanda Laloo and other senior officials were present at the ceremony.
