Ghazipur(Uttar Pradesh), June 9: In a shocking twist to the Sohra couple’s murder case in Meghalaya, Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of the deceased Raja Raghuvanshi, surrendered to the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district. She is accused of masterminding her husband’s murder, allegedly hiring men to kill him during their honeymoon.
The Meghalaya police had been on the lookout for Sonam after cracking the case and arresting three suspects – two from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and one from Lalitpur district in Uttar Pradesh. One more suspect is still on the run.
Raja’s body was found in a gorge on June 2, nearly a week after the couple went missing while vacationing in Meghalaya’s Sohra area. The case took a dramatic turn with Sonam’s surrender, leaving many stunned by the alleged role she played in her husband’s murder.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma congratulated the Meghalaya Police on their breakthrough, tweeting, “Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the Meghalaya police in the Raja murder case. 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant, well done.”
