Shillong (Meghalaya), June 9: The Meghalaya Police have arrested Raj Kushwaha, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed during his honeymoon trip. According to investigations, Raj Kushwaha was having an affair with Raja’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and the two had plotted Raja’s murder together.
The breakthrough came through a joint operation between Indore Police, Shillong Police, and the Indore Crime Branch, who shared key intelligence with Ghazipur Police in Uttar Pradesh. Call records exposing Sonam and Raj’s secret affair led to Raj’s arrest.
Four people have been arrested in connection with Raja’s murder, including Sonam Raghuvanshi, Raj Kushwaha, and two others, Anand and Vicky Thakur. A fifth suspect is still on the run. Raja’s body was found at the bottom of a deep gorge in Meghalaya’s Sohra area on June 2, with injuries indicating he was murdered using a sharp weapon. Sonam’s family denies the allegations, claiming she’s innocent and being framed by the police. Her father, Devi Singh Raghuvanshi, has demanded a CBI investigation into the case.
