Shillong (Meghalaya), April 7 : The 3rd edition of the ASEAN-India Artists’ Camp (AIAC) has successfully concluded here in Shillong today , strengthening cultural ties between India and ASEAN member states through art. The camp, organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Seher, brought together 21 artists from ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste, and India for a 10-day residency.
The camp culminated in an exhibition at Tripura Castle, showcasing paintings created by participating artists inspired by Shillong’s landscapes and cultural interactions. The artwork reflects the cultural exchange between India and ASEAN nations, highlighting the diversity and richness of the region’s artistic heritage.
AIAC is a key initiative under India’s Act East Policy, aiming to strengthen people-to-people ties and celebrate civilizational and cultural connections between India and ASEAN member states. The camp serves as a platform for artists to share their perspectives and creativity, promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.
Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, addressed the event, highlighting the significance of art in strengthening India-ASEAN cultural ties. The paintings created during the camp will be exhibited in New Delhi and Malaysia, extending the cultural dialogue beyond Shillong.
