Shillong, Sept 2: Mawlai did it again – at the death.
Captain Damanbhalang Chyne curled in a 90+5 minute free-kick to hand two-time champions Mawlai a dramatic 1-0 win over Nongkseh in the SPL 2026 headline clash at SSA Stadium tonight, keeping them top of the table with 10 points.
Nongkseh dominated large parts and hit back hard after their 1-0 loss to Lajong last week, but Mawlai keeper Lambhmiki Lamare and some bad finishing kept them out.
In the early kick-off, defending champions Langsning roared back with a 6-1 demolition of Laitkor. Mebanshngain Kurkalang struck twice (10′, 12′), Damonlang Pathaw (45′), Syed Ahmed (45+4′), Samuel L Kynshi (84′) and Rohan Manar (90+4′) scored, while Hamingbert Nongbet (54′) got Laitkor’s lone goal.
With this, Mawlai lead on goal difference over Lajong, Langsning climb to third on 9 points.
