Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), June 15: Arunachal Pradesh’s very own Hillang Yajik has made the state proud by winning one gold and one silver medal at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2025 held in Thimphu, Bhutan.
The championship, which saw participation from over 200 athletes across South Asia, witnessed Yajik’s exceptional talent and dedication shine through. She claimed gold in the women’s model physique (155 cm) category and secured silver in another physique division, showcasing her versatility and prowess in the sport.
Born in the picturesque Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh, Yajik’s journey to international glory is an inspiration to many. With limited exposure to mainstream sports in her area, she has broken barriers and made India proud on the global stage.
Yajik’s bodybuilding career began with local competitions before she stepped onto the national stage in 2022. She finished fourth in the Women’s Model Physique (above 165 cm) at the Federation Cup in Gangtok, Sikkim, in 2022, and won a silver medal in the Model Physique category at the Eastern Zone stage the same year. In 2024, she secured a silver medal at the prestigious Federation Cup in Goa and represented India at the 56th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship and the 15th WBPF World Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship.
Yajik’s achievements serve as a beacon of hope for aspiring bodybuilders, particularly women from Northeast India. The Arunachal Bodybuilding Association has hailed her success as a triumph not only for her but for the entire nation. As Yajik continues to inspire and make waves in the bodybuilding world, her story is a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and perseverance.
