Udalguri (Assam), Oct 13 : A powerful earthquake struck Assam’s north-central region early Sunday morning, jolting residents awake . The 4.2 magnitude quake, recorded at 7:47 am, had its epicenter in Udalguri district on the northern bank of Brahmaputra, approximately 105 km north of Guwahati and 48 km west of Tezpur.
The magnitude was 4.2 and epicenter was located in Udalguri district.
The tremor was felt at Darrang, Tamulpur, Sonitpur, Kamrup, Biswanath, Kamrup Metropolitan, Morigaon, Nagaon, western Arunachal Pradesh, and eastern Bhutan.
The tremor was felt across several neighboring districts, including those on the southern bank of Brahmaputra, and even in western Arunachal Pradesh and eastern Bhutan.
Fortunately, no casualties or damage have been reported.
