New Delhi, Oct 6: In yet another move that can put Gyanesh Kumar in dire trouble, the INDIA Bloc leaders took out a massive march to the Election Commission office in New Delhi. They were, however, prevented by the Delhi Police from proceeding forcing the top leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi to sit in strike outside the office.
Many other agitating were detained by the security forces. A section of the protestors, even, clashed with the security forces who were engaged in large number to firmly deal with the situation.
A section of protestors forcibly opened the gates of the Akashvani Bhawan when denied going inside the EC office demanding immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
When Rahul Gandhi was stopped by several layers of police barricades, subsequently climbed onto one of the barricades and waved a large national flag and other leaders shouted slogans in support the slogans against CEC.
Notably, Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been imposed in and around Jantar Mantar. Under this, restrictions may be imposed on certain activities and gatherings in the area.
