Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 13 :In a significant blow to cattle smugglers, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya has foiled attempts to smuggle 27 cattle into Bangladesh. The successful operation, conducted in the last 24 hours, is part of the BSF’s ongoing efforts to curb cattle smuggling along the International Border of Meghalaya.
The incident took place in West Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills districts of Meghalaya and Special operations was conducted by 4th Battalion BSF.
The cattle concealed were hidden in a jungle area near the border.
The BSF troops acted swiftly on specific intelligence, seizing the cattle and handing them over to the concerned police station for further action. This achievement highlights the BSF’s commitment to securing India’s borders and preventing illegal activities.
In May 2024, the BSF Meghalaya had also intercepted smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, confiscating goods valued at over Rs 15 Lakhs, including cattle, sugar, and cosmetics.
These consistent efforts demonstrate the force’s unwavering dedication to protecting the nation.
