Tura(Meghalaya), July 16: North Garo Hills (NGH) police today intercepted a vehicle that was earlier stolen from the town of Baghmara in South Garo Hills while apprehending four persons who apparently were occupying the vehicle, near the Bajengdoba police station.
According to reports, the vehicle was reported stolen a few days ago and alerts being sounded across the state to recover the vehicle.
Early this morning at about 7:30 AM, the Alto car, bearing registration AS01 Y8720 was intercepted at Berubari, close to the border with Assam. The occupants of the vehicle were all residents of Pedaldoba in Goalpara district of Assam and were detained.
The 4 occupants have been identified as Geden Marak (18), Jaman Sangma (19), Rimseng Marak (19) and Chirong Marak (18), all of who belonged to Chisikgre, Pedaldoba in Assam.
“As the case has been registered in the district of SGH, the 4 have been handed over to Baghmara for further legal action,” said superintendent of police, NGH, Abraham T Sangma.
