Kokrajhar(Assam),Nov 29 : With the 4th general elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council(BTC) knocking at the door campaign of different political parties has gained it’s momentum across the four districts.
Different political parties including UPPL is contesting in 40 constituencies, BPF in 37,GSP 35,BJP 26,Congress 13,AIUDF is contesting in 7 constituencies.
Various party leaders from BPF,UPPL,BJP,GSP are busy in election campaigning in support of their party candidates .
In a multi cornered contest 12 candidates are in fray in No.7 Fakiragram constituency(reserved for non-ST) in Kokrajhar district.
Among the contesting candidates- Matiur Rahman(UPPL),Arup Kumar Dey(BJP), Anowar Hussain(AIUDF), Abdul Badsha(GSP),Sahjahan Ahmed(Independent),Raju Kumar Barman(Independent) are as of now in the forefront .
A total of 72,000 voters in the constituency will decide the fate of 12 candidates.
All candidates are busy winning of hearts of the common masses. “It is not possible to predict ,who would emerge victorious from Fakiragram constituency in the council election”, common voters say.
A massive election campaign is on for the UPPL party nominee ,Matiur Rahman .
On Saturday, senior vice president of UPPL Rwngwra Narzary inaugurated the Fakiragram block office of UPPL at Purani Bazar along the Bilashipara-Serfanguri Road.
Narzary while addressing the election campaign said that UPPL has been getting massive support and promise from all sections of the communities in the council. He said that UPPL will win with absolute majority in the 40 member house of BTC legislative assembly to form the next BTC council.
Narzary alleged that BPF has been indulging in massive corruption and anomalies in their 17 years of rule in BTAD administration and the common masses were deprived from their due rights .
UPPL nominee Matiur Rahman expressed his confidence that he would emerge victorious is from the constituency with the support of the masses .
He said common masses want parivartan and development in Fakiragram constituency and common masses are coming forward to support the party .
He accused the BPF that BPF ruled BTC administration for their utter failure to work for the welfare of the people .
He has assured of building a healthy and a welfare society for all the communities and protection of river erosion , upliftiment of health , educational institutions if voted to power.
Meanwhile, independent candidate Shahjahan Ahmed is also campaigning in Fakiragram constituency to woo the voters.
Shahjahan Ahmed also has support of the common masses .
While talking to this scribe ,Ahmed said that he is contesting the council election in support of common masses as Fakiragram constituency is till date is quite backward.
He said that people of Fakiragram constituency are not getting opportunities for development and welfare due to insincerity from the BPF ruled BTC administration.
He expressed his confidence that people would come forward to vote in favour of his candidature .
He promised to work for welfare and massive development besides deep integration if voted to power.
