Shillong (Meghalaya), Nov 30 : State Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has apologized to the staff manning the Wards Lake here for taking his daughter who is below ten years to the picturesque Wards Lake along with his wife on Saturday .
As per the government guidelines no children below the age of ten is allowed entry as of now keeping in mind the Covid pandemic .
The Chief Minister said that his younger daughter had always wanted to go to Wards lake and accordingly took her on not realizing there was an age requirement.
He added that the staff at the gate maybe didn’t feel comfortable informing me about it.
Stating that ” it should never have happened and no one is above the law which is applicable to all” , he apologized to the staff working at the gate and would urged them and others to ensure that law applies to all no matter what the position.
The CM went on to say that if there are any fines to be paid for it as a citizen he would definitely pay.
He said as a father he was happy for his daughter but as a citizen he once again apologized to the staff working at Wards lake.
