Kokrajhar(Assam) ,Mar 2I : Was it a mistake or deliberate attempt by some miscreants . The flag of All Assam Students Union(AASU) was replaced from the Swahid Bedi located at Kokrajhar town with BPF flag which not only created confusion but also resentment in the area on Friday.
Though the BTC polls have been postponed , Bodoland was busy with electioneering and campaigns across the four districts of the BTAD for the council elections and some miscreants taking advantage of the situation removed the flag of the student body and replaced it with the flag of the ruling BPF party .
Meanwhile,the students body has expressed serious concern over the incident .
One AASU member, Manas Protim Ray first noticed the BPF flag flying on the Swahid Bedi on Friday afternoon and immediately informed the police.
Police immediately rushed to the spot after getting information about incident and removed the flag .
An FIR has been lodged with police in this regard and police are investigating the matter .
AASU has strongly condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the culprits .They have demanded immediate identification of the culprits and action as per law .
The students union is of the opinion that it was a deliberate attempt to create chaos among the society in run up to the BTC council elections.
Assistant general secretary of AASU Nabajyoti Roy has condemned the incident and demanded action the culprits whose intention was to create a divide in run up to the council polls.
Bodo students union president Dipen Boro has also termed the incident as unfortunate stating that the Swahid Bedi is a sacred place in memory of martyrs,but flying of a party in the memorial was uncalled for .
He has urged upon the district administration to create a congenial atmosphere in region.
President of Kokrajhar district ABMSU Nazrul Islam also condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the miscreants .
