Kokrajhar (Assam),Feb 25: President of Bodoland People’s Front(BPF) Hagrama Mohilary said that BPF is contesting the upcoming BTC council elections in alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and Asom Gana Parishad(AGP) and alliance party and is forming the next council with majority seats as more and more people are coming forward to extend support to the BPF .
Mohilary, who is also chief of BTC administration while addressing a mass gathering organised at Bishmuri here,said that his party was working for the welfare and development of the common masses since it’s inception in the region.He said that BPF,BJP,AGP alliance would be winning majority of the seats in the council and forming next council’s administration.
He also added that there will be a tough contest between BPF and ex – ABSU members who left the union and joined politics but was confident that BPF would get mass supports in the council elections.
He has confirmed that as per alliance formula ,BJP and AGP are getting the opportunity of seat sharing to contest the elections though his party would be contesting in maximum seats across the council area.
” We have organised a women’s rally in Kokrajhar district today where thousands of party supporters and general citizens participated”,he said.
He informed that women Self Help Groups would be given financial aid from the BTAD administration in all 40 constituencies.They would be given Rs. 5000 each prior to the issue of notification of the BTC council elections.
On the recent killing of a BPF member Khairul Islam , Mohilary alleged that sitting MP Naba Kumar Sarania’s associates were involved in the killing incident and strongly condemned the incident .
Assam Minister for Tourism , Chandan Brahma said that massive rally is the celebration of the bold leadership BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary in the region.He was confident that BPF would be back to reign the council as more and more people are coming forward to support the party .
“We are and will be dedicated to the council’s development and welfare in the region”, Brahma added.
The mass gathering of the ruling BPF saw huge participation from different districts of the region which was organised by BPF womens wing.
Assam Social Welfare minister Pramila Rani Brahma,senior BPF leader Emanuel Mushahary,MLA Kamali Basumatary,Maloti Rani Narzary were prominent attendees at the event.
Meanwhile,Bodoland People’s Front party also announced two more candidate’s names on Tuesday who would contest the upcoming BTC council elections which includes Jomduar and Baganpara constituency in BTAD administration.
Sitting Member of Council Legislative Assembly(MCLA) of Baganpara constituency Phalindra Basumatary(Phanbai) will be the candidate from BPF .Former BTC executive member and senior BPF leader Reoreoa Narzihary has been named as the candidate for Jomduar constituency .
Mohilary said that BPF party was fully prepared to contest the upcoming council elections and claimed that those candidates whose names has been announced are sure to win in their respective constituencies .
