Kokrajhar (Assam),Feb 25: Working president of the United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL) Pramod Boro has been appointed as president of the party at an emergent party meeting held at Bahan Mushalpur in Baksa district today.
Boro,who joined the UPPL party on February 22 at Bijni session was first appointed as the working president of the party.Boro who was the former president of the All Bodo Students Union was elevated to the position of party president just within the three days of joining the party.
Party president Urkhao Gwra Brahma proposed the name of former ABSU president to take over the reign as the new president of UPPL and the proposal was unanimously accepted by the house.
An emergent meeting of central UPPL was held on today at Baganpara in Baksa district.
The meeting discussed thoroughly the resolutions adopted in the meeting held at Bijni on Feb 21 and Feb 22 last in Chirang.
Significantly, the policy making body of UPPL was also reshuffled and some significant changes made in central body of UPPL .
A resolution adopted in the meeting said that an urgent meeting would be convened to discuss screening for selection of candidates very shortly by Policy Making Body of UPPL.
An election steering committee of the party was formed today with ex MLA Nathuram Boro as chairman and Chinmoy Dey as convenor. The Election manifesto drafting committee was also formed with BTC MCLA Rwngwra Narzary as chairman,Prathibha Brahma and Raju Narzary as members.
Former Rajya Sabha MP and outgoing UPPL president Urkhao Gwra Brahma said that the clauses of the recently signed Bodo accord must be implemented in letter and spirit.
“To overcome the challenges of implementing Bodo Accord signed on Jan 27 last in letter and spirit,Promod Boro being one of the signatories should hold a bigger role and take up the President ship of UPPL.I have firm belief and confidence that in forthcoming BTC election, UPPL would emerge as the winning party to change the political dynamics of Bodoland Territorial Region”, Brahma said.
It is to be mentioned that UPPL has emerged as a formidable force and alternative political party to emerge as winners in the forthcoming BTC elections.
Newly appointed UPPL president Pramod Boro said that his party will be dedicating more towards building of healthy integration amongst all sections of the community in the region.He said that people want’ parivartan’ and thus,his party was working hard for bringing welfare to the common masses.
