Sohra(Meghalaya), May 25: In a swift operation, Sohra Police Station’s mobile patrol team apprehended a Bangladeshi national, Robiul Islam, and two local touts, Sujit Hajong and Ravi Singh, for facilitating his illegal movement.
The incident occurred when police tried to stop a silver-colored Maruti A-Star vehicle (AS 01 AP 0928) at a naka, but the driver attempted to evade them. The vehicle was later apprehended near the Seven Sisters Falls Viewpoint.
Islam, an electrician based in Bangalore, had been regularly using this route to travel to Bangladesh. The two touts, residents of Ichamati Bazaar in East Khasi Hills, were found to have facilitated his movement.
A case under the Foreigners Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
