Shillong(Meghalaya), May 26: A routine traffic stop in Shillong led to a major breakthrough when personnel caught a scooter rider attempting to flee with 109 vials of suspected heroin. The rider, Nimu Chyrmang of Lad Rymbai, was stopped at Saw Lad Junction for not wearing a helmet.
As officers approached, Chyrmang tried to escape, tossing a plastic bag containing the suspected heroin. However, the traffic personnel quickly apprehended him. The seized contraband weighed 1.95 grams.
The East Khasi Hills Anti-Narcotics Task Force took over the case, registering Madanriting PS Case No. 82(05)2025 under the NDPS Act. Chyrmang is currently in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
