New Delhi, May 23: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, has extended an invitation to global and domestic investors to tap into the unprecedented growth potential of Northeast India. Speaking at the Rising Northeast Investor Summit here, Sonowal emphasized the region’s transformative potential, particularly in medical travel tourism and waterways.
Sonowal envisioned Northeast India becoming a major “Heal in India” hub, leveraging its potential in medical travel tourism. He also highlighted the region’s waterways as a key driver of growth, powered by modern infrastructure and favorable policy actions.
The Minister’s address was part of the summit’s thematic discussion on “Unlocking Capital for NE Infrastructure,” where he underscored the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for investment in the region. With a “New Bharat dawning with a resurgent Northeast at its heart,” Sonowal urged investors to seize the opportunities presented by the region’s growth trajectory.
