Shillong (Meghalaya), May 25: The 3rd YAI North East Regatta 2025 has kicked off at Umiam Lake, showcasing the region’s vibrant sailing talent. Hosted by the Umiam Sailing Club and the UDAY Sailing Foundation, the event is backed by the Yachting Association of India and supported by the International 420 Class Association of India.
The regatta, a prestigious Junior National Ranking event, will run until May 29, featuring top young sailors competing for a spot in the National Squad for the 2026 Asian Games. Lt Gen TSA Narayanan, AVSM, Vice President of YAI, praised the growing momentum of sailing in the region, highlighting the focus on creating a professional yet sailor-friendly environment.
The event aims to promote sailing excellence, sportsmanship, and competition among young sailors, contributing to the growth of the sport in India. With talented sailors participating from across the country, the 3rd YAI North East Regatta 2025 promises to be an exciting celebration of sailing and athletic prowess.
