Shillong(Meghalaya), Feb 28: In view of break down of law and order in Shillong and its adjoining areas, the district Magistrate , East Khasi Hills has imposed curfew here from 10 pm today to 8 am on Saturday.
The entire Shillong Municipal area , the cantonment area and major localities will be under curfew .
Meanwhile,Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya (Home) CVL Diengdoh in an order has ordered temporary suspension of telecom services which includes SMS of all mobile service providers and internet services as a precautionary measure.
According to sources , a group of a particular community attacked the members of the influential Khasi Students Union . The Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has ordered for a magisterial inquiry into the incident .
Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui strongly condemned the incident in Ichamati village wherein a group from another community attacked members of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU).
Apart from Shillong curfew has also been imposed in Sohra and Ichamati.
