Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 3: In a significant development, the controversy surrounding the Mawjymbuin Cave in Mawsynram, Meghalaya, has been resolved. A recent meeting at the DC Office here, attended by stakeholders from the Dorbar Shnong Hima Mawsynram and Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP), has confirmed that there is no ban on worshiping the Shivling inside the cave.
In fact, the cave will now be open to devotees for 365 days, from 9 am to 5 pm, with certain procedures in place. Special arrangements will also be made for devotees during the Shravan period. To address environmental concerns, a ban has been imposed on smoke-generated items inside the cave.
The KSP president, Satya Ranjan Borah, emphasized that their involvement aims to strengthen national integrity and social harmony, and they will continue to monitor the situation. This resolution brings relief to devotees and tourists who visit the cave, renowned for its stunning geological formations, particularly a stalagmite that resembles a Shivalinga.
The Mawjymbuin Cave has been at the center of a growing regional conflict, with the Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) protesting against the ban on Hindu rituals inside the cave. However, with this resolution, the situation is expected to return to normal, and the cave will once again be open to visitors and devotees.
