Imphal (Manipur), June 17 : Security forces in Manipur arrested three hardcore militants and razed 25 hideouts in a 24-hour statewide sweep. Police said the trio, linked to the People’s Liberation Army and Revolutionary People’s Front, were involved in multiple insurgent activities and were picked up from separate locations in Imphal West district.
Troops dismantled 25 militant camps in Kamjong and Ukhrul districts used for planning attacks and controlling territory. Recoveries included a binocular, 23 empty cartridges and eight live Single Barrel Breech Loading rounds.
In Churachandpur, police arrested two men from Molnom village with around two kilograms of suspected morphine. Combined teams continue cordon and search operations in Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Thoubal hills to track armed groups.
Three injured Kuki youths were meanwhile shifted out of RIMS, Imphal amid protests over their treatment after they were hurt in Monday’s clash between rival armed groups in Kangpokpi.
