Shillong (Meghalaya), May 27: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has requested Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to expedite efforts in tracing an Indore-based couple, Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam, who went missing in Sohra, Meghalaya.
According to police sources, the couple had rented a two-wheeler from Keating Road in Shillong on May 22 and visited Mawlakhait and Nongriat before heading to Sohra. Their rented scooter was found abandoned near Golden Pines Dhaba in Sohra Rim with the key still inserted.
“We are investigating all angles and working closely with local authorities to locate the couple,” said a senior police officer. “The search operation is underway, and we are checking CCTV footage, speaking with locals, and combing through trekking routes and dense forest areas.”
The Meghalaya police have deployed teams to search for the couple, and village headmen have been informed to assist in the search. The region’s challenging terrain, often shrouded in heavy mist and rain, poses natural obstacles to search and rescue efforts.
CM Yadav’s office confirmed the conversation with CM Sangma, stating that the Meghalaya government has assured swift action to ensure the couple’s safe return. The police are urging anyone with information about the couple’s whereabouts to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to locate Raja and Sonam.
