Tura(Meghalaya), May 26: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has clarified that the Tura Medical College and Hospital will remain a government property, while its management will be entrusted to a private entity. Addressing a gathering at Mendipathar, Sangma said the majority of seats in the college will be reserved for students from Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister explained that a few seats will be allocated to the private management to enable them to manage the administration and salaries of the faculty. However, the hospital will function as a government entity.
Sangma also highlighted the challenge of recruiting professionals for the college due to a shortage of qualified personnel in the state. The clarification aims to dispel confusion surrounding the operationalization of the medical college.
