New Delhi, June 22 : Former MP and veteran journalist Vishwa Bandhu Gupta died here on Sunday night.
He was 93.
Gupta was associated with the Congress party during the 1980s and he was a Member of Parliament from April 1984 to 1990, representing the state of Delhi in the Rajya Sabha.
Gupta was Chairman and Editor-in-chief of the Tej-Bandhu group of publications. The group was the first mainstream media house to launch a magazine for the North East , The North -East Sun which had a huge circulation in the region and the neighbouring countries .
He was one of the founding members of the Press Club of India and the President of the All India Newspaper Editors Conference.
Late ,Gupta, was the eldest son of Congress leader Lala Deshbandhu Gupta, was the Chairman of the Tej-Bandhu group of media enterprises and Editor-in-Chief of the group’s publications including The Daily Tej newspaper, DIWANA magazine, The Weekly Sun, The North-East Sun, Treasure monthly and Flash newspaper.
