New Delhi, Oct 12: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with 9 INDIA Bloc leaders have filed a writ petition before the Supreme Court challenging SIR by the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) alleging that crores of genuine voters were deleted from the electoral rolls.
Gandhi was accompanied BY Mallikarjun Kharge, Saugata Roy (Trinamool Congress-Mamata Banerjee), Akhilesh Yadav (Samajwadi Party), Tejashwi Prasad Yadav (RJD), Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena UBT), MA Baby (CPI(M)), D Raja (CPI), Mahua Majhi (JMM), Supriya Sule (NCP Sharad Pawar) and ET Muhammed Basheer (IUML).
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and his two Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi were made respondents in the petition.
The INDIA Bloc delegation reached the top court premises at a massive protest march from the Constitution Club in the afternoon.
