New Delhi, Sept 11: The wait is over. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday met in New Delhi a day ahead of the crucial BRICS Summit.
The much-touted talks on Friday covered bilateral cooperation in crucial. Apart from this, the ongoing West Asia conflict also figured in the discussion not to speak of the Black Sea region.
The vital sectors covered in the bilateral talks include political, economic, defence, energy, space, mobility.
Modi gave away Putin the Russian translation of the Thirukkural written by great Indian Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar that contains writings on agriculture and farmers.
Prime Minister Modi had reiterated that dialogue and diplomacy was the way forward in resolving conflicts.
The Russian president is accompanied by a high-level delegation. His visit marks his first in-person participation at a BRICS summit outside Russia since the war in Ukraine began in February 2022.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation in political, economic, defence, energy, space, skill mobility and people-to- people domains.
According to MEA, both the leaders welcomed Russia’s International Industrial Exhibition ‘INNOPROM India’, which was held for the first time in India from 9-11 September 2026 and underscored its importance in further expanding trade and industrial ties. The two leaders also visited the INNOPROM India exhibition and interacted with the participants.
