Shillong ( Meghalaya),April 8 : Meghalaya’s U-19 cricket team bounced back from a crushing defeat to Manipur with a resounding three-wicket victory over hosts Nagaland in the NECDC U-19 Men’s One Day Tournament. Mewankitbok Kharpuri was the match-winner, claiming a career-best 5/33 in 10 overs and scoring 34 runs with the bat.
Nagaland were restricted to 167 all out, with Shyerinlo and Amongti Longkumer top scoring with 36 runs each. Meghalaya’s chase was nervy, but Angkit Tamang’s 42 and Rudra Singh Rathore’s unbeaten 34 ensured a comfortable win in 29.4 overs.
Kharpuri’s all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
