Shillong, Sep 30: Rangdajied United saved their Shillong Premier League status in style, beating Mylliem 3-1 at SSA Stadium on Tuesday to condemn their opponents to relegation.
Mylliem, with just one point from eight games, will play in the First Division next year irrespective of their final result.
Mebannangkiew Thabah put Rangdajied ahead in the 39th minute after racing clear from midfield and rounding debutant keeper Pynkhrawbor Ryntathiang. Mylliem roared back through Shaibor Nongrum’s spectacular 71st-minute bicycle kick that crashed in off the post.
With survival on the line, Rangdajied refused to settle for a draw. Pasborlang Khonglikong headed in Franky Dkhar’s cross in the 84th minute before Franky himself sealed it from the penalty spot in stoppage time.
