Tura(Meghalaya), March 7 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the Nehru Ading Locality Beautification Project, marking a significant step in Tura’s transformation. The project, undertaken by the Nehru Ading Development and Welfare Committee, aims to enhance the area’s surroundings and infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Sangma highlighted ₹700 crore worth of development initiatives underway in Tura, including ₹60 crore for internal road paving, ₹15 crore for street lighting and beautification, and ₹15 crore for Tura Bazar beautification. He emphasized community involvement in maintaining civic discipline and cleanliness, citing Japan’s example.
The Chief Minister also addressed concerns raised by locals, including the need for a community hall, boundary wall for Hawakhana Government L.P. School, and addressing the drug menace at Jerusalem Junction. The event concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and presentation of a memorandum outlining local development priorities.
